Our Objective

To promote underwater photography, provide opportunities for divers to nurture photography skills, and increase marine environmental appreciation to all through this medium.’

// Action for CLUBS
Origins

In January 2010, a small group of divers with an avid passion for underwater photography began meeting regularly to share their images, in-camera and photo editing skills.
Interest grew and Snappers’ Underwater Photography Inc was formed in March 2012.

We continue to grow – mentoring, learning and sharing, while having fun.
Who knows what each photographer can achieve with their acquired skills, and the group’s support.

Sharpening in Photoshop

  1. OPEN in photoshop (you can do this from Bridge if working in RAW)
  2. Make your adjustments cropping, levels etc
  3. Sharpening (the last thing you do before saving)
  4. Right click on image in the layers panel (right hand side of screen)
  5. Click ‘Convert to Smart Object’
  6. Go to ‘Filter’ on the top
  7. Select ‘Sharpen’ then ‘Smart Sharpen’
  8. Select ‘Lens Blur’
  9. At 100% zoom pick a good area to view
  10. Click ‘More Accurate’
  11. Adjust the ‘Radius’ and ‘Amount’
  12. Click and hold on the image to see before, release for after
  13. Click ‘Advanced’ and you can adjust shadows and highlights using the sliders
  14. When happy, Click ‘OK’
  15. Wait while changes are made. (You can go back into the layer and readjust)
  16. To preserve tones –double click on the icon (looks like a level)
  17. Wait for the window to load. Scroll down to ‘Luminosity’. Select. Click ‘OK’
  18. You can also brush over areas to further reduce sharpening by using the ‘Opacity’ tab in the window and brushing over them using black colour.
  19. To save as an object that can be edited – Right Click on the layer. Select ‘Export Contents’. Name the file and save it (There is only one option to save as a PBS file which goes into the same folder as the original image so you can at any time, reopen this file and make changes without loss of data.) SAVE IT.
  20. Close the image.
  21. Reopen the image and save it as a TIFF or JPG etc (The pic is no longer a smart object so keep the PBS file in case you want to make other adjustments).
