Hi everyone
I spoke with Souths earlier today and the COVID gathering limit for them is now only 10 people, they were tossing around 2 groups of 10. I thought this is not going to work well for us so I have chosen to go with a ZOOM only option for September meeting, hopefully things will improve for the months ahead. I trust this does not cause too much inconvenience ☹it would be great to catch up f2f2 … but …. ZOOM is a great option. Please see details below, I will be in the ZOOM meeting room by about 1740 if you want to pop in a bit early, just getting files open and making sure it all works OK

Hi everyone
The September meeting will be a bit of an experiment – a hybrid with us Zooming our judge into the meeting at Souths. A large number of the committee indicate a preference for f2f meeting at Souths. It also means our members who are not comfortable f2f will be able to attend as well by Zoom. Our judge has developed a presentation about the August OPEN competition, which should be interesting and a short education session on dodging and burning.
Hans and I will be at Souths early(5:00sih) to attend to the technical requirements, I will bring 2 pair of speakers and my VG webcam/mic that is designed for meeting use, hoping it all goes well, maybe the start of a new way of presenting our meetings. We may be able to use this to attract new members who may be physically remote and unable to attend f2f, worth a try. Patience will be required 😊

I have spoken with Souths this week and given the current uncertainty with the Covid situation I think it best if our meeting is online for August.
ZOOM has been a great option to connect, if you can connect online it would be great. Have a beer, glass of wine, enjoy with others.

10 Tips to make it a more positive experience:
Think of a Zoom Meeting as a face-to-face meeting and conduct yourself as you would if you were all present in the same room. In addition there are some additional useful tips below to observe to help ensure the meeting goes smoothly for all involved:
- Join early – up to 5 minutes before the meeting start time – test your audio
- If you haven’t used Zoom before click the link to download Zoom prior to the day of the meeting and familiarise yourself with any features you may need to use on the day – mute/unmute microphone, stop/start video, screenshare etc.
- Have your video on unless you are experiencing connection issues
- Find a quiet space without interruptions / background noise
- Have a plain background – avoid backlight from bright windows
- Have good lighting on your face so you can be seen clearly
- Adjust your camera to be at around eye level if possible – especially take note of the angle of your laptop screen if using the built-in camera.
- Mute your microphone when not talking
- Try to avoid talking over / at the same time as other participants
- Be aware you are on camera and try to avoid doing other tasks, checking emails, looking at your phone etc. Be aware of what’s happening in your background to avoid embarrassing moments
